Working with Microsoft Windows
Tools for Opening Windows
Any computer Operating System is a complex beast and Microsoft Windows (whatever version) is no exception. A foray into the guts of the beast should not be taken lightly - damage could easily ensue. On the other hand, doing nothing can sometimes be worse: the system could grind to a halt because of lack of attention. So, if you are a computer novice - and I'm assuming that you are - then I shall try to point the way to maintaining a healthy PC.
You will notice that any screen-shots will show that I am using Windows XP. I can't show Vista right now because I don't have it and, moreover, am not inclined to get it. I have rarely heard a good word said about Vista and even those who seemed to like it at first have reported back to me that, the more they use it, the more frustrated they become with it. Unfortunately, as is Microsoft's wont, they practically force buyers of new computers to use Vista because they will not allow new PC's to have XP installed. Nevertheless, some of the tools described on this page are available under Vista and the general theme is just as valid, so please read on regardless.
